The Cherokee Nation. Specifically, Wilma Mankiller. Former Chief Mankiller is the first woman to lead the Cherokee Nation. Not only that, but Chief Mankiller is the first woman "to lead a major Native American tribe in modern history" (from the press release, link below). Very, very cool. Not unlike many North Carolinians, I have Cherokee blood in my veins, so this means something to me. Wow!
