This Is ALL I AM Going To Say About This

I wrote the following letter to my local paper today:

Dear Editors:

Once again, the Post and Courier offers skewed coverage of Senator Clinton in the article regarding her marks on Bobby Kennedy. What this particular version failed to include was that Senator Clinton said the SAME THING in Time Magazine back in March, to NO hew and cry from the Obama campaign. What's the difference? A Philadelphia Inquirer article yesterday claiming that Clinton is leading in the popular vote, and Obama saying to a group of Cuban-Americans in Florida that he would visit Communist leaders in Cuba. Have to get THAT off of the headlines, so let's attack CLINTON!!!

Furthermore, the editor# of the Argus paper who was interviewing Clinton released a statement saying that she was talking about historical precedents for staying in the race - that's ALL. Robert Kennedy, Jr., ALSO issued a statement* saying he has heard Senator Clinton make this statement before in terms of highlighting how MANY nomination runs have lasted into June, including his father's, and he did not understand what all of the hoopla was.

Neither do I. It is CLEAR from the video what she was saying. That the media, and Obama's campaign, cherry-picked this one little tidbit COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTEXT, and a comment made in response to a question, which the editor asked SEVERAL times, is completely reprehensible. To even think that she was saying something nefarious is mind-boggling - if anything, she was comparing herself to Bobby Kennedy, who was, if anyone remembers history, BEHIND at the time, but was determined to go all the way to the Convention (and she DOES have his Senate seat, after all, and HAS been endorsed by ALL THREE OF HIS CHILDREN).

That the Post and Courier decided to run with this particular version is mighty telling (the NY Times actually included the above referenced quotes from the editor and Robert Kennedy, Jr.). What was completely missing from that WHOLE story was the extensive amount of time Senator Clinton spent answering indepth questions about her positions and policies. But, hey - why bother paying any attention to THAT when we can find one tiny tidbut out of context on which to attack her?!

Next time, try reporting ALL of the story!

Sincerely,
The Rev. Amy

# The Argus Leader’s Executive Editor Randell Beck on the issue
:

"The context of the question and answer with Sen. Clinton was whether her continued candidacy jeopardized party unity this close to the Democratic convention. Her reference to Mr. Kennedy's assassination appeared to focus on the timeline of his primary candidacy and not the assassination itself."

* Robert Kennedy, Jr.'s statement:

“It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense.”

Good morning, Amy!

I'll tell ya, for a campaign and its supporters who have already decided to crown Obama king, and are all over the internet and MSM talking about how Obama is the CLEAR winner, they sure are knocking themselves out trying to kick Hillary down. Something tells me they aren't all that confident now that it shows she will be the clear popular vote winner and she is clearly on the right side of including FL and MI in the vote and delegate count before the nominee is chosen.

Me thinks they protest too much.

If they could, they would have also cried that what she said was racist. Believe me, I'm sure they tried to figure out how to pin more of that on her, too.

Obamabots are nunts...freakin' nuts....and brain dead.

Hey!

I was just saying to Suzy, "I haven't heard from my buddy, Mary Ellen, in days! I hope she's okay!"

So, are you??

I agree COMPLETELY!!!!! Absolutely!!! They are freaking out about this for three reasons:. 1. the PhillY Inquirer piece on her popular vote; the upcoming PR vote; and 3. Obama's HUGE gaffe abt Cuba. That is just YESTERDAY. Add to that the Newsweek poll, and things don't look good for him at all - especially with his crapola position on FL and MI. If he thinks this is what a LEADER looks like, he is DEAD wrong!

I saw your Sox are doing well! Good for them!

I am HAPPY to hear from you!

I agree, the Obama folk have to find something to whine about.

I'm doing fine, just real busy. My son graduates from High School tomorrow, so I've been trying to get stuff together for his party.

Sox WERE doing well, I think they won 8 games in a row...then they blew the last two games.

Here's one of the reasons I just love the White Sox, especially Nick Swisher. who was the ring leader in this idea.

WOW! How exciting for you and your son (and I imagine a bit nostalgic, too?) for your son to be graduating from high school! Has he decided on college, and if so, which one?

AWESOME abt the Nick Swisher and some of the other players! THat was GREAT!!

Well, you know I am a Yanks fan, and they have certainly been having their share of difficulty this season...I think their bats, now that A-Rod's back, are finally starting to come alive. And their pitching is getting better - the CONSTANT issue with them...

I had the date wrong abt PR, but the intent is the same - the Obama people seem to be COMPLETELY freaked out that Clinton is going to win there, too, to the point that their trolls are now saying PR doesn't matter and their votes shouldn't matter. WOW!! Just like FL and MI!!!! Ahem. It is now a complete truism: they will say ANYTHING, no matter how convoluted or nonsensical or illogical, to push Obama on us!! I say, NO!!!!

And this whole racism meme - your racist if you DON'T vote for him, is mind boggling, especially since it often comes out of the mouths of EDUCATED people!! I have done a LOT of anti-racism work in my life, and as I have said before, I think it is JUST as racist to vote FOR a lesser qualified candidate because of their skin color as to vote AGAINST them for their skin color!! I remember very well a conference on which I worked in BOston listening to women of color (including my boss) talk about how racist it was not to CHALLENGE people of color the same way we would other white people - that it was not only patronizing, but RACIST to assume EVERYTHING that comes out of their mouths is true, and is not up for discussion (obviously, this doesn't mean people's personal experiences, but opinions, etc.). They found it to be INSULTING if white people did not engage them in the same way as we do other white people, treating them with kid gloves and all that. So0, I sure as HELL am not voting for the FAR lesser qualified candidate over Hillary to try and prove I am not a racist. And I think it is INCREDIBLY short-sighted and dangerous for the Obama people, and Obama himself, to have framed it this way. IMHO, that is.

Have a great time today!! Congratulations to your son!

Amy- I know this racism thing is so out of hand. I never thought I'd see the day when Hillary or Bill would be accused of being racists. I also never thought I'd see the day when I would be called a racist. It blew me away. I agree with you, I think the real racism lies with those who are voting for Obama for one reason only, because he's black. That makes me sick.

My son will be going to Illinois State University. He's my fourth and last child, so this is a real milestone for us. I have 5 to 6 years between each child, so as you can imagine, it seems like we are never going to finish with the college tuition. When my first daughter graduated from high school, my son was just a toddler. I remember looking at him during the ceremony and thinking that I couldn't wait to hear his name called for a diploma...and here we are! Now, four more years and he'll be graduating from college and we'll really be done!

The school is doing a live Internet feed for the ceremony, so his sisters in New Hampshire and PA will be able to watch. Neither could make it out here and they were so disappointed.

Oh, and regarding PR....I heard the media trying to spin that Obama's way by saying that they can't vote in the GE, so they just don't count. What a slap in the face to all those in PR! If it didn't matter, then why did Obama ship Michelle out there right after he got trounced in KY? He's also outspending Hillary 2 to 1 in PR. They are doing all they can to make the popular vote mean nothing. I'm sick that the SD's are falling for all this crap. You would think they would know better. Honestly, I think this country is filled with the most gullible people in the world. Anyone who would buy that re-packaged piece of garbage, Obama, must be half brain-dead.

What also blows me away is when I hear Obamabots who are in the gay community or support the gay community, singing his praises! What has he EVER done for the gay community besides run away from them as far as he could? Do they actually think he will support them once he gets their votes? Hillary has been working with the gay community ever since she's been in college.

Ugh....

Ok, have to run. I'll be back to read your blog on Monday.

Keep up the good work, Amy!!!

Hey there!

This is kinda funny - while you wre writing your comment on PR, I was posting on it!! And Obama outspending Clinton 2 - 1? What th ehell ELSE is new?!?!? He has outspent her in EVERY race, and he STILL has not been able to close the deal. As I wrote in today's post, with ALL of his advantages, and he has had EVERY one imaginable, he CANNOT CLOSE THE DEAL!!! Why aren't the SDs looking at THAT?!?!

Beats me why ANYONE in the Gay community would support Obama. I have NO doubt that should he (or McCain - I do not see Obama ever being able to beat McCain) win the White House, LGBT rights will at BEST be forgotten. Neither of those men will do a damn thing for us. Clinton? She is one of the strongest, most consistent, best advocates we have. Period.

WOW - I guess today IS a major milestone for you and your family! It is GREAT that your daughters can at least watch your son's graduation, even if they can't be there. And cool that he'll be going to IL State - is that close to y'all?

I hope you have a great day today, and try to put all of the attacks and crapola behind you for the day. Isend you my best!!
