Even In Exonerating Palin, Politico Smears Her

Politico has an article out about Sarah Palin and her 24,000 pages of emails, featured on the front page of my local newspaper, the Post and Courier (P&C has teamed up with Politico for the election season)This is quite a feat. Even as Molly Ball acknowledges that the release of Palin's emails show her to be a hard working, warm, devoted public servant, she throws in some snide, demeaning comments about her. Even the headline is offensive in the Post and Courier: "Emails Show Palin Noncombative, Engaged - And Whiny." WTH?(February 16, 2011 - Photo by Mario Tama/Getty Images North America)

It made me mad. It is just more of the media's continued unfounded, politically motivated, assault on Sarah Palin. They have attacked her mercilessly for three years, and now claim, after the constant harassment, that she has "darker tendencies"? Are you kidding me with this circular logic crapola??

And so, I was compelled to write this letter to the editor of the Post and Courier. I have no illusions they will actually publish it:
I read Molly Ball's article on Gov. Palin. The emails requested back in 2008 from sites such as Mother Jones are proving to be a bit of a disappointment to all those who wanted to get dirt on the former governor. Turns out that she was - gasp - hardworking, warm, engaging, and dedicated to her state. Shocking!

But here's the thing - to qualify Palin now as exhibiting her "darker tendencies" is disingenuous at best. The only reason these emails are even available was the desire to take down this qualified woman 3 years ago by the media when they filed their FOIA requests. They have hounded her, and her family, on a daily basis, flat out making crap up (like that she, personally, shot wolves from the air, which your newspaper has already dispelled). They have accused her husband of incest, claimed her baby was not her own, used despicable language to attack her, and her family, sent numerous reporters to Wasilla to dig up dirt on her, and AP reporters to "factcheck" her book. And now, Ms. Ball is claiming that Palin is a divisive figure. If she is, it is only because the media has MADE her a divisive figure.

Even more, why has the media never spent anywhere NEAR this much time investigating Barack Obama? He claimed he had no records, not even a datebook, of his time as an IL Senator. How is that even possible?? The media failed miserably in ferreting out why the two front runners for the IL US Senate seat both, mysteriously, had their SEALED divorce records unsealed just a few short months before the election, forcing them both to drop out, allowing Obama, once again, to run basically unopposed as he did when he ran for office the first time (he got everyone else thrown off the ballot - look it up).

Where has the media been in looking at his connections to Khalid Rashidi, Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko, Kwame Kilpatrick, Louis Farrakhan, and Jeremiah Wright? They could not be bothered to research the presidential candidate, or his methods for becoming the candidate, much less his associates, any one of whom would have brought down any other candidate. (How many people know about the rampant caucus fraud perpetrated by the Obama camp? There were complaints made to the DNC by a number of people, including Hillary Clinton, but the DNC turned a blind eye. Even worse, they took lawfully cast and certified votes for Hillary Clinton and GAVE them to Obama. That was the day this Yellow Dog Dem became an Independent.)

But to the VP candidate from Alaska the media managed to devote all kinds of resources. Lo, and behold - there is nothing there. Of course, that doesn't stop Ms. Ball from making gratuitous, unfounded, slights against Palin, thus demonstrating her very clear bias even as she was tasked with acknowledging there was nothing there.

This isn't journalism, this is tabloid writing. And you put it on the front page.

While I am at it, I would like to highlight something else from these emails that was in my local paper - and listen up all of you who made this salacious claim - SARAH PALIN DID NOT SHOOT WOLVES FROM THE AIR, AND WAS OPPOSED TO IT. Got it? Seriously. Oh, and the emails highlighted how much of a conservationist she really is. I bet that will stick in some folk's craw...

Good grief.

Clearly, despite there being nothing there to attack Palin over, these rags will continue to make the kinds of gratuitous smears Ms. Ball did. They just cannot stand that this woman is exactly who she said she is and has demonstrated herself to be. I guess in the face of Obama's failures, this must really get to them, so they have redoubled their efforts to go after her, not him. Pathetic. Be big enough people to admit you were duped, you were snookered, you were fooled, and you were wrong. Give it a shot.

And now, for our musical moment to take a break from this continued media folly, I leave you with this:

Excellent letter to the editor! You said it all, girl, but I'm sure they can't read it because it's too damned dark in the ass they have their heads stuck in.

The song is perfect!

(Just got back from the Sox game..was nice to see them win but from where I was sitting it sure looked like Coco Crisp was safe in that last call. But then again, we had a few really bad calls on us while playing Detroit last week. That's baseball!)

Hey, ME!

I just saw the Sox score - yay! So glad you were able to be there! It was a good day for all of our teams then, the Braves, Yanks, and White Sox - woohoo!

And thank you so much - it made me so mad the way Molly Ball wrote that article. She went on abt how Palin wasn't a prima donna, instilled loyalty in her staff by the way she treated them, all kinds of stuff, but - and that's just it. There was always a "but," as someone mentioned at NQ. She could not stop herself from making gratuitous, baseless, demeaning statements abt Palin. Honestly, if my family had been hounded the way hers was/is, if the vast majority of MSM were citing the Katie Couric interview as if it was the be all and end all, not getting that the response to the offensive question essentially asking if she read and her hesitancy to say, "Of course I do - what the hell kind of question is THAT," pr claimed my youngest child wasn't really mine but the bastard child of my daughter by her FATHER, and on and on and on, I'd be just a tad cranky.

But that's the thing - she usually lets this stuff just roll right off her back.

The MSM has done its job, though - they have the progressives all believing she is an idiot who can't talk, who apparently did nothing for her state, and on and on and on. Nothing will change minds like that - they are too narrow.

Anywho - glad you liked the song. And I am really glad you got to do something FUN today!

I was just reading some of the comments over at Huffpost to see what they were saying about the Palin e-mails. Of course, the way Huffpost is doing it is that they are putting in a bunch of commentary before each e-mail and only taking certain quotes out of each e-mail, almost none of them are complete. Even at that, there is nothing that is there that is damaging but they are trying their best to make it seem as though it is.

The game was fun, but in the usual manner of Chicago weather, it was only 56-58 degrees during the game...and we were sitting in the shade underneath the skyboxes. I was prepared, though...wore my White Sox starter jacket. My son is finally learning to listen to mom when it comes to the weather and he brought a sweatshirt and it was only a matter of about five minutes after sitting at our seats that he had it on. It took him almost 21 years to figure out that I actually know what I'm talking about. Go figure. ;-)

Wow, why am I not surprised abt HuffPo? That is just so typical.

If you haven't seen it already, the Daily Mail has a touching story abt an email Palin wrote from God abt Trig. And they did not do a whole lot of, "well the emails show her to be a wonderful person, BUT..."

OhmyGOSH abt the temp at the Sox game!! Are you kidding me? It was around 90 here today. Suzy and I spent some quality time washing Jordan - even though I am having major problems with my knee replacement, I tell you, it is so healing to be in Jordan's company. I love it...And, it was good for him to get a bath. That way, he was cooler when the fan blew on him in his stall (during the summer, they are in their stalls with fans on, then out at night when it is cooler).

Thanks for the HuffPo update!

Wow. Sarah opposed the shooting of wolves from the air?? Who knew???

Even I believed that lie about her. Not sure why. I guess it just seemed more plausible than most of the others.

Embarrassing.

SYD, you are surely not alone in thinking that was true. I got emails from a number of environmental organizations to whom I had donated (for years) making this claim. So, it is not surprising.

From what I have seen, she is a conservationist, as many hunters are. She thought private hunters should be culling the wolves, not the gov't. And, she was opposed to hunting bears in one of the wildlife areas, too.

Truly amazing how far reaching and effective the smear machine has been with this woman.

I have never stopped supporting her, BTW. But I do know folks who will not even consider Palin. Based on this one fact alone.

Environmental groups. Another example of Left wing activists that have been effectively silenced (ie. paid off) by the Obamacrats. Right along with the anti-war lobby.

What a terrible shame.

Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy said...

SYD, you ain't only kidding. So many of the rumors abt Palin began with a man who worked for Obama's PR firm. Of course, Obama claimed he had nothing to do with it, and this guy acted on his own. BUT - those rumors circulated RAPIDLY, and next thing you know, Sarah Palin allegedly tried to ban "Harry Potter" from the Wasilla library. The only problem with that was it hadn't been WRITTEN yet.

Believe me, I was surprised, too, when I saw that Palin was opposed to the gov't hunting wolves from the air. I had heard that, too, from EVERYONE. But you nailed it - the smear machine was very successful when it came to her.

It still amazes me that she has received so much more focus than OBAMA did. How is that possible? And how did all of these organizations and media outlets get all the same talking points? It is curious, to say the least.

One thing that disturbs me tremendously is that the party that I believed for most of my life stood with women has demonstrated how very much they do not. Their witch hunt against Palin has exceeded their attacks on Hillary Clinton at this point (IMHO). I have NEVER seen them go after anyone else like this, ever. She scares the shit out of them, and the JournoListers knew she was a force to reckon with - now wonder they went after her from the time of her acceptance speech on - they knew she was better than Obama. By a long shot.

Thanks, Jim - I appreciate that! :-) And welcome - nice to have you here. (Sorry for the delay - we have been dealing with some major internet problems courtesy of AT&T.)

I was so surprised when the P&C decided to team up with Politico for Election coverage. Politico is not an honest broker - they are most definitely partisan. There are better options for the P&C, but they chose this site with its very clear bias, particularly against Gov. Palin.

That said, in Tuesday's P&C, there was a good commentary by Dan K. Thomasson of the Scripps Service abt Gov. Palin. You may be able to find it in a google search if you don't want to give P&C the traffic.

Again, welcome!
