"Start Spreading The News..."

That is to say, YANKEES WIN!!!! YANKEES WIN!!!! TTTTHHHEEEEEE YANKEES WIN!!! Woohoo! Yippee! Yay! The Bronx Bombers won their 40th American League Pennant Sunday night (Oct. 25).

The Louisiana Southpaw hurler, Andy Pettitte, was on the mound for 6 1/3 innings. Joba Chamberlain took the ball, and got 2 outs to end the 7th. Then, one of the greatest closers of all time, Mariano "Mo" Rivera, came in to get the last 2 outs. He gave up a run in the process, but no matter as the final score was 5-2. Not only did the Yanks win their 40th pennant, but Andy Pettitte now has the most postseason wins in history, and Mariano Rivera earned his 37th postseason save.

Know who else is going to be really happy about this? Secretary of State Clinton! No doubt that is why she is smiling in the photo below (okay, not really, but hey, one can dream!):

Yes, she's a Yankees fan, too! How nice that the Yanks clinched the Pennant the same day Secretary Clinton appeared on the cover of Parade Magazine! All in all, a great way to begin the day, with a story about a day in the life of Secretary Clinton, and to end it with the Yanks as the American League Champions. Woohoo!

Here is a glimpse of the excitement following the game:

Note the classiness of Angels Coach, Mike Scioscia. Impressive. No doubt, the Yankees will do their best to win the World Series, too, for the American League (sorry, Philly fans! I can't help it!).

By the way, CC Sabbathia won the ALCS MVP, as he should. He pitched two incredible games during this series, as he has most of the season. What a great addition HE is to the Yankees, especially since they lost their ace, Wang, with a shoulder injury early on in the season. CC stepped right up, and took on that role admirably.

Now, to the World Series with the reigning World Series Champions, the Philadelphia Phillies, beginning Wednesday might, Oct. 26th. I have to say, I know it isn't as much fun for the Midwest or West Coasts to not have a team in the Series, but for us East Coast folks to not have to stay up half the night watching a game is a blessed relief, I'll tell ya! So you know what I'll be doing come Wednesday night, wearing my Jeter jersey, and cheering on my boys in the Fall Classic!

To take a moment away from my celebrating, and believe you me, I am THRILLED about the Yankees' success, I do want to acknowledge the largest single day loss of 14 US troops in Afghanistan. My thoughts and prayers go out to them, their families, their friends, and the companies who suffered the loss of their fellows. My deepest sympathies and condolences.

I couldn't help but smile when I saw this post...memories of 2005 and how I felt when the White Sox clinched the division and then went on to win the World Series. I was so blessed to have been able to go to a World Series game...I had the time of my life, even though it was rainy and cold.

Enjoy it!

Regarding our lost troops...I want to cry. As Obama waits around until after the election, we are losing soldiers because of his indecision. As my dad would say, he needs to shit or get off the pot.

Word verification for this comment: Ciant.
Used in a sentence: I ciant stand Obama...an' neither cian the rest of us sutherners.

Oh, what a nice comment, Mary Ellen! I appreciate that. That kind of attitude exemplifies a TRUE baseball fan, IMHO - someone who can be happy for someone else even if it isn't THEIR team making it to the Classic because they know how important it is. Very nice indeed. You are one classy person, you know that?

And your word for the day was hilarious!

Well, I hate to say this, because it may make you even madder. Did you see at Politico that Obama has already played golf as many times in 9 months as Bush did in 2 years 10 months? Yes, he was just playing yesterday. Our troops are literally dying, and he is out playing - AGAIN. He really does seem to think the presidency is one big party where he gets to go and bask in the glow of his adoring fans, throw parties, travel, go to cool places, play lots of b-ball, and golf. WTH, already??

Oh, and as someone commented this morning, funny how the MSM isn't taking photos of HIM all of the time playing golf like they did Bush. Typical (not that I have any love lost for Bush, but you know that already).

I am looking forward to some great baseball!

Btw, happy birthday to Hillary Clinton!!

Dangit - I meant to say, I am so glad you got to go to a WS game! That is FANTASTIC!! I so hope to go one day...Good for you!

Congratulations, Rev! What a great feeling, eh? I still remember way back in '88 (when I was still a Dodger fan) - Kirk Gibson's home run hit in the 1st game of the World Series....and then the Dodgers winning the championship in the 5th game. What a feeling!

And, on a sadder note, not only has O played as much golf in 9 months as Bush did in almost 3 years, but this morning he just held his SIXTH meeting since JANUARY on Afghanistan and Pakistan, but then went on his way to his NINTH fundraiser in a WEEK. Disgraceful.

Hmmm, word verification - Puscons. What can I do with that...

When puscons to shove, Obama would rather play golf then do any work.

ROTFLMAO - you and Nunly are killing me with these words! Too good!

Thanks so much, SF! I really appreciate that! I am fully aware that there are as many people who love the Yanks as hate the Yanks, so I appreciate the kindness.

I've already heard abt their payroll, blah, blah, blah - what people don't realize is that the luxury tax the Yanks pay helps keep smaller market teams viable - you know, the ones with hardly anyone in the stands. They couldn't exist without the Yanks.

Anyhoo - thank you! I remember that home run, too. It's just exhilarating, isn't it? Especially in a WS.

So if you aren't a Dodgers fan any more, do you have another favorite team?

I just can't believe Obama. Now the Dems are saying you can't rush this decision, but as Larry Johnson pointed out, Obama has been claiming he knew what he wanted to do in MARCH, so what's the problem?? Seven months is NOT a rush job!

Maybe he needs another game of hoops or a round of golf to help him clear his head...

The strike of 94/95 sort of turned me off the game, and I just never got back to it. But all the excitement with them Yankees....kind of catching!

Word verification - naten (ME, you started something here and I can't stop!)

Obama ain't naten but a empty suit.

Seven more American soldiers killed in southern Afghanistan today.

...and what does Obama have planned for today? Another round of golf or a campaign stop?

Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy said...

SFindie, come over to the Pinstripes, you will be WELCOME here! :-D

I do understand abt the whole strike thing, and I certainly detest how much money these players make. But I just love the sport, and love watching people play on that level...So, yes, hook your wagon to one of the greatest baseball franchises in history, the Bronx Bombers!!!

And love the word of the day (or rather, second one)!!

Mary Ellen, thank you for the update. That is just tragic...

And to answer your question, Obama is going campaigning. Again.

Remember when we thought Bush's priorities were out of whack??? Obama is making him look like a workaholic by comparison!
