Happy Easter, And Blessed Spring

For all of my friends and family celebrating Easter, "Hallelujah, the Lord is Risen; the Lord is risen indeed, Hallelujah."

And to celebrate this joyous holiday, I would like to provide you with the following selections. They are parts of a BBC production on different composers and their contributions to sacred music. They are specifically for this season of Easter.

I grew up singing pieces like this (my father was a church organist and choir master), and growing up High Church Episcopalian, this is a very familiar sense to me. And while I am no longer a Christian, I love, love, love Plainsong. There is something about it that just reaches deep within, not unlike Celtic drumming. I still appreciate the beauty and depth of meaning of these pieces, and hope they touch you, too.

Happy Easter. Blessed Spring. We welcome you!

And to move from the sacred to the profane, tonight is OPENING NIGHT!! Blessed Spring indeed. My beloved Yankees will be facing their arch rivals, the Boston Red Sox, at Fenway Park. Add to that getting to have my 5 1/2 year old grandnephew spend the week with me for his Spring Break, and I am one happy girl indeed.

I hope everyone has a good day today, too, whether you are a Christian celebrating Easter, a baseball fan eagerly awaiting Baseball Season, a gardener enjoying the change of Seasons, or none of the above! It's a beautiful day, friends! Enjoy!

Hi Amy! I tried to listen to both video last night but for some reason they were downloading very slow and I couldn't get to both of them. The first one was wonderful, though! I'll listen to the second one sometime today.

And speaking of blessed Spring...BASEBALLL SEASON BEGINS! WOO HOO!

I'm sure you're not happy with the results of last night's game but look at the bright side...IT'S BASEBALL SEASON! WOO HOO!

White Sox play today and I never make predictions because they always have a habit of kicking me in the teeth when I do, and there's nothing worse than getting kicked in the teeth by a Cleveland Indian (Randal from my blog would never let me hear the end of it.) ;-)

Hey, ME!

Oh, I do hope you can listen to them - there's a whole series on YouTube. Maybe you can go there directly.

Well, yes, I am VERY excited abt baseball starting. Our grandnephew was telling me today abt the game he went to last week - the Charlotte Knights against the White Sox (you probably know the Knights are their Triple A team). The Knights won, which was VERY exciting (the Sox sent their second string team).

No, not happy abt last night, but they really left CC in too long. Yes, he can go long in the game, but not the FIRST game of the season!! Then the middle relievers did what they did last year, and gave up the game. Sigh. But, hey - they lost last year;s opening game, and look what happened!

LOL abt the Indians beating the Sox - I hope it doesn't happen! I have to say, though, the Indians have a VERY nice stadium. My partner took me there for my 50th birthday - the Yanks were in town, and we went to THREE games. I got a foul ball A-Rod hit in batting practice - because it hit my partner in the arm (though had she not moved in where she was, it would have hit this pregnant woman RIGHT in the abdomen). Johnny Damon signed it for me. I wanted Derek, of course...

Anywho - you know I am happy!! I bet you are, too!
