Big Health Care Summit Today

Yes, you would have to be under a rock not to have heard about the upcoming 6 hour Health Care Summit. AOL, of all places, asked what is the primary question: Who Is Listening To The American People?. The question was actually framed by Rep. John Boehner, but I don't think this is a partisan question, I think it is the AMERICAN question. WHO is listening to the people who will be impacted by this the most, an act that will affect fully 1/6th of our entire economy?

There has been a lot of ink on this already, including articles from the Wall Street Journal, Obama Readies A Fallback Proposal; a counter article by Ezra Klein, There's No Plan B For Health Care Reform; Politico's piece by Mike Allen, Will Dr. Obama Go For Plan B-1 or Plan B-2?, and on and on it goes.

No doubt, there will be a lot more written on this as the day progresses, and different sides will see it going different ways. But again, the big question is: How does this affect Americans, all Americans? Who is listening to US? Who is advocating on our behalf, and who on behalf of special interests?

Feel free to post your thoughts about who is representing us, who is not, and all of that.

Now, if you cannot possibly stand to watch these people pontificate or preen for the cameras, do I have a cute video for you to watch. I can watch this a thousand times:

I think that beats Rep. Boehner or Senator Grassley any day of the week, don't you?

As for the Health care Summit, it will be interesting to see what the day brings, won't it? I am sure there will be much to talk about later. Now, I'm going to go watch that video again..

No, I'm not watching the "summit", also known as "the day the Dems pretended to care what the Repubs or the people they're supposed to represent thought but really didn't give a flying rat's ass."

If this bill gets pushed through via the reconciliation process, it will forever change the way our congress works, and it will forever change health care in this country. And neither, imho, will be for the better.

No one is advocating on our behalf. The Pretender is in it for his ego; he wants to be able to say he passed health care reform when no other president could. Somewhere in his supposedly "brilliant" mind, he's not quite understanding that this will reflect poorly on him, and history will not be kind.

The Dems are in it for what reason I do not know. Just to prove they can? The Repubs are in it to try and stop the Dems (although I do think a few of them, like Scott Brown, really do get that this health "reform" monstrosity will do irreversible damage).

I'm going to spend my time watching the video. How cute is that kitten! I could watch it over and over and over.... oh wait, I am.

Fortunately, I had a ton of errands and appointments today, so I couldn't even be tempted to watch it.

Which reminds me - katmoon at NQ suggested something that is brilliant - while watching these kinds of things in which you KNOW the politicians are lying through their teeth, and just saying what they think we want to hear until they go and make some backroom deal, have a bunch of balled up socks at the ready which you can heave at the tv without hurting the tv. Smart, right??

Oh, you hit the nail right on the head, SF - this is ALL abt Obama's ego, and wanting to pass something, ANYTHING, no matter how flawed or expensive it is, to say he did something Clinton never could.

As for Brown, well, he knows first hand how bad this policy would be given the state wide policy in MA. It has cost a TON of money, for starters, but the general consensus is that it has NOT worked well at all...

Isn't that kitten just the most adorable thing you have ever seen (besides Raymond, of course)?? The only problem with that video is that it is too short!! :-)

LOL about the socks. I'll have to try that! Screaming at the tv doesn't seem to do the trick.

I wish that kitten video was hours long, I could watch it forever. Ahhh, my Raymond, he's not doing too well. He and I are going to be talking to an animal communicator Sunday morning, see if we can't figure out what's going on. I don't think he's ready to leave the world yet, but he definitely isn't a happy boy right now and I'm hoping we can come up with ways to improve his quality of life.

SF, I am sorry to hear your boy isn't doing too well. I hope the communicator is able to help y'all figure out what's going on with him. I know how hard this is, and I'm sure going to be thinking of you two...

LOL - I know, right? How did they ever even figure that out?? It is just the most adorable thing...
