It Would Be A Shame...

To ruin such a beautiful day, which is what we are having here in the Lowcountry, with a post on something serious. Sure, there are lots of contenders (aren't there always?), but since I'm easing back into writing after my most excellent adventure, I am going to claim a Scarlett O'Hara moment. You know, "tomorrow is another day" kind of thing. I hope you don't mind.

And since so many of you have been kind enough to ask, I now present to you a video compilation of the most adorable puppies in the world (in my humble opinion, of course):

As a reminder, these three charming puppies are still looking for good homes!

If you have anything on your mind you wish to share, like how in the hell the Yankees could have given up the game to the Red Sox on Saturday (my birthday no less), not to mention Friday night (Mariano Rivera seems to cave when he steps into Fenway Park), or if you want to lament the sad, unfortunate deaths of the 21 Argentinian polo ponies as a result of erroneous supplement amount, or have anything else on your mind, feel free to share!

Welcome home, Rev! Good to see you back online.

The babies are so cute, and so BIG! What bundles of joy. Mama's got her hands full with those three, it looks like.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you thought about Malta. I've heard that the island of Gozo is becoming a draw for expats....

Not to put a damper on things (ignorance IS bliss sometimes!) but on Facebook there's something called "Bill Maher's Notes". Don't have any idea if they are his or not (although they do have the college-frat-boy feeling that he seems to never have gotten over). His new note:

New Rule: You can't be against gay marriage and throw a tea party. What's your next, big anti-gay event? A sit-in Pottery Barn? A staged walkout at your bathhouse? Look, paranoid nutjobs, no one is trying to get in your ass. They couldn't, even if they wanted to, because your head's already up there. Most of the comments are, of course, using "tea-baggers". These idiots, who proclaim themselves "progressives", have bought into the MSM's crassness of renaming the Tea Parties and blaming it all on the rightwing nutcases.

One of my favorite songs from the 50s, seems so appropriate at the moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP1w5Hl8D0E

Big sigh....

Hey, SF!

Thanks so much - I appreciate that!

I know - can you believe how big they've gotten? Just amazing. I love how their ears flop when they are running - so cute!

OH, holy cow abt Maher. I hope you don't mind, but I fwded that part of your comment to Ani, who has a very good post up at NQ directed at Maher (which you may already have seen).

I just cannot believe people like him, and all the others who are now using this "teabagging" term, continue with their sanctimonious, holier-than-thou, we are so progressive BS. What a homophobic (and misogynistic, from the vitriol he spewed abt Clinton and other women) jackass. Sheesh.

Malta - I had just heard from someone else before I left for my trip that Malta was a GREAT place to which to retire. Apparently, they have universal health care, for one thing, but it is supposed to be a GREAT place to live. Unfortunately, though, my knees were so worn out from Egypt (and all the other walking I had to do) that I did not make it out of the ship. (I was all ready to go, too. I met my partner on the top deck where she was taking some photos, and it became painfully clear that I could not walk much more.) I saw a good bit of it as we went into port. It is a lovely area, one I hope to return to at some point. Sorry I can't give you more specifics, though!

I can tell you that one important aspect of their history were these knights who also ran hospitals. That tradition carries on today - no wonder they have good health care!

Good to hear from you, SF! And great song - thanks for that!
